2) The Ripple Effect!
By Charlene M Brown
“Oh, it’s okay, it’s not important!”
Have you ever said this! Were you putting yourself down at the time?
I have a news flash for you: EVERYTING YOU DO IS IMPORTANT!
Every action you take has an impact.
Every decision you make affects someone or something somewhere, although you may never realize it.
Have you ever heard of the theory of “6 Degrees of Separation” (also called the Human Web)? This is based on the theory that every person in the world is separated from any other person by only 6 degrees (people).
Think about that for a moment, every person is only separated by 6 acquaintances from any other person. That could happen in the same room at a party!
Imagine a hand squeeze that could be felt on the other side of the world.
With 6 people, you can still feel the life blood!
That is an incredible concept, but very relevant when we are talking about impact.
Although this theory is unproven, (http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/0,,sid9_gci932596,00.html), several studies have shown that the average number of separation between any two randomly selected people is indeed 6.
Taking this into account, what kind of Ripple are you creating.
Everything you touch has the potential to affect the whole world! And only six people later.
You never know how your smallest action can touch someone deeply. And think about that reaching out to the rest of the world.
What if we all did that—took each action as if it were going to affect the well-being of the rest of the world? What would our world look like?
It always amazes me the effect that one person can have, especially when some otherwise irrelevant statistics are used. Like the amount of cardboard one person uses per year, and how that amount recycled saves however many trees over that one person’s lifetime.
But the real impact comes when more than one person decides to take on that one act. That’s when the numbers really add up.
So this ripple effect makes us feel great when the outcomes are something like saving trees or minimizing one’s effect on the Ozone Layer.
But less desirable things add up too.
Take for instance, the example I first used, of putting yourself down. The more you tell yourself that you don’t matter, the more you will start to believe it and the more you will project that image outwards to other people. Don’t be surprised when (not if) other people start to treat you as if you don’t matter.
The same way the more you encourage a person to step into their Greatness, the more they view themselves as Great! It works both ways!
So I am here to tell you that YOU DO MATTER, YOU ARE IMPORTANT and YOUR ACTIONS DO HAVE AN IMPACT!!!
Try it. Act as if your actions counted for the whole world! Make every action you take purposeful. Speak to people kindly, encourage success, do things for your highest good. When you are living your life for its highest good, the world is benefitted!
Oh the magnificent things we can do with purposeful action!
As Always, A BIG Hug!

My mommy gave me possibly the best birthday present she has ever given me: pumpkin pan-a-cake mix, a masher, cupcake mix, fantabulous hot cocoa mix and a rolling pin!
Now, it may be obvious that I have a thing for kitchen-ware, but it’s hard to describe how much joy these things have given me! No, really!
I LOVE pancakes! And the cocoa was some of the best I’ve ever tasted, and the cupcakes were just what I had been wanting! I can truly appreciate my mom these days.
It used to be that I greatly disliked when she did stuff like that, but now, I see their place.
And the rolling pin—I had to borrow hers to make pie crusts (which I will NEVER do again!) for Thanksgiving this year and last. Kitchen items really bring me a great amount of joy. No, really! I could be in kitchen stores for weeks straight before I realized I withered away into nothingness just from looking at all the pretty appliances.
The masher—coveted! An old friend stopped by recently and the masher was on my table—he asks, “What is that!?” “It’s a masher.” “What do you do with it!?” “You mash stuff, like mashed potatoes from scratch, eggs [which he doesn’t eat, and therefore my reference on that on was irrelevant] for egg salad, anything.” Mind you, I say all of these with a slightly crazy gleam in my eye as they glaze over thinking about all wonderful things I can now mash! (LOL!!!)
Next to music and words, good food is one of my most favorite and treasured things. And my mom and I have come to an understanding about it. Gone are the days of frivolous gifts that I only politely say thank you for, but have no real use for.
I have called my mom gushing about all of the above-mentioned food items. I told her today that she got an “A++++” for this gift as a whole. [and my sister got me this GREAT card—do you know about Hoops and Yoyo—they are HILARIOUS—okay, that had nothing to do with anything].
It is wholly possible that I am only writing this because I am still gushing over my most excellent birthday a few weeks ago. But that’s alright. I get to praise my mommy (and my girlfriends and my sister), enjoy good food and more “mom” moments, all in one!
And what can be better than that!?
Do You Love Your Life Now!? I DO (because my mommy loves me and buys me neato birthday presents!)
