RiskRiskRiskRiskRiskRiskRiskRiskRisk . . . . .and a large coleslaw!
“Risk ensures that things will not be the same tomorrow as they are today.”
“Risk is letting your Soul have fun.”
For me , risk is an all or nothing sort of deal, but not generally something I think I take a lot of, though other people would disagree. I am told it was risky to travel with no agenda, to not have any job prospects in site when quitting (or graduating school, for that matter), or starting a business. That stuff I have already done!
But when it comes to everyday living, I tend toward risk aversion–I follow the rules, I play by the book, I am “square”, a recent colleague told me.
Well mostly, anyway.
If I don’t follow the rules, it’s because I have read every single one and have chosen to ignore it–whatever I am doing “wrong”, I am doing it on purpose and most likely with purpose.
However, the suggestions the Cleanse gave were mostly things I already do. It asked me to list new foods I would like to try, newspapers, books and magazines that I wouldn’t normally choose, new kinds of entertainment to explore. All of this is fine, but I was seeking something more. I did agree with myself to pick up something new I want to try each time I go to the grocery store, and to pick up a book that I wouldn’t normally read, and other such things.
But still, I was seeking more.
The one thing that is something I am actually working on, is asking for help when I need it. I don’t have to be SuperWoman and other people are willing to pitch in where I am less strong.
In my head I see me Fearless. But in my real life , not always so much. Maybe the little risks will indeed add up to the big ones . . .
I try something new today. What Would Fearless Do?
