21 Day Consciousness Cleanse, Day 6

Today, we discover SURRENDER!

Journaling before I start seems to be pretty effective for me.  The past few days, I woke up with a lot on my mind and wrote for pages and pages.  It was a “need” to get it out, especially since I am limiting my interactions with technology and therefore my lifelines to most of  “My People.”

This morning, I didn’t have so much on my mind that I wrote for pages and pages, but I was excited to commit it to paper:  I am in the process of looking at Graduate schools and I found one yesterday that could potentially be a very good fit, so I wrote about that this morning!

It’s also amusing to me that each day, a song pops into my head having to do with the lesson, but most of them are old church songs.  And while I am not especially religious, I do have a background in the church, so these songs are ingrained in me.  I also see how it relates to the Journey I’m on in the same way as the more religious folks.

What I learned today, was that the two things I most need to surrender (and the premise is the same–”give it to God”) are fear and withholding love.

Both are based in fear.  Actually, most of the things I don’t do or suppress are based from fear.  This is of course F.E.A.R. (False Expectations Appearing Real ~Iyanla Vanzant), which I talk about a lot.

I learned a long time ago that I had to appear to be tough, all the time.  This meant that I showed no fear, that I was always strong, the one people could depend and lean on.  And I am strong, but I can still show emotion to others.  The irony here is that I love hard, so if we are close, I have a LOT of Love for you and I express that to you openly.

And if I don’t, I DON’T!

In the book, Debbie Ford says something particularly powerful to me:

When you allow your emotions to be as they are–without trying to fix, change, or deny them–something magical happens: they pass through you.  But when you resist your emotions, when you invest your energy in wishing and wanting to feel different than you do, you have to find ways to indulge yourself in quick fixes, giving up your soulful dreams for short-lived gratification.  when you are wishing away your feelings of loss, hurt, anger, or loneliness and wanting to feel different than you do, you block the natural outlets that enable your emotions to move through you.  Your feelings are meant to inform you when your needs are not being met.  Suppressing them not only deprives you of their wisdom, but results in an accumulation of resistance that obstructs your connection to your divine resource . . . You must have faith that your feelings exist to inform you.  They are often your soul’s way to communicate to you . . . By Surrendering your feelings into the arms of your higher power, you join forces with the Divine . . . (pp 118-119)

After all that suppression I tried to do, I am more powerful when I feel my emotions because I am joining forces with the Divine.  What a powerful concept that is for me!

I AM DIVINITY, I AM DESERVING of all of the Divine Goodness that constantly Pours in and through me!

Today, I do what feels RIGHT!
