Remember The Time!

Okay, so this article isn’t really about Michael Jackson or his memorable music at all. That was just a cute little ploy to get you to read it.

But this is something that is on my mind. Besides missing Michael Jackson, you may or may not know that I have worked with kids, especially teenagers, for the past ten years. Hmmm, make that 12 years.

Part of my motivation for this is that as a young and confused girl, I didn’t really have anyone to talk to and I didn’t want other girls to go through that too.

But of course, they do!

So today, reach out to a young person, take them for ice cream or something and just open up a dialogue with them, letting them know that you are there.

My experience finds that it usually works better if this young person is the same gender as you, but not necessarily.

And it doesn’t matter if you still fall into the “young person” category yourself (i.e. that you are under 30)–you still have valuable experience that you can share with someone younger than yourself.

Believe it or not, young people are looking up to YOU to see how they want to live their own lives.

Do that today. Reach out!

You’ll be surprised at who is reaching back!
And by all means tell us about it here by posting a comment and spreading the word!
