You Can Love Your Life Now!

How many people do you know who hate their jobs!?  I mean, really, how many people actually love what they do!?

I don’t know about you, but I don’t know too many folks who love what they do, and lots who hate their jobs.

Do you know any amazing artists who either can’t keep a job because there are not enough creative outlets, or are starving because they are trying to do their art full-time, but don’t have the business skills to support their craft?

This is about the art of collaboration.

Have you heard of the concept of synergy, where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts?  As in 1 + 1 +1 =5.  This concept is used to describe a group cohesion that surpasses what any of the elements could have come up with on their own.

So this is what I’m suggesting:

We are all creative in some way.  Some of us write, some of us draw or sculpt; some of us can network up a storm and some can plan the party of the century.  Whatever it is, there is something that gets our fire going and makes life worth living!

Wouldn’t it be great to do that for a living!?

Close your eyes and imagine with me for a moment (well, read it first, then close your eyes and imagine it : You are doing what you love.  Your workspace is comfortable, the atmosphere is just right.  You have all your materials right at hand, whether paints and canvasses or caterers and banquet halls.  You are Doing Your Thing!  All the wheels are flowing smoothly.  People are answering their phones and giving you the right information.  You are in the “Flow” of Life and everything is moving in your favor!  Life is good!

Now, bring it back, come back down to Earth for a minute.

Where were you, out among the stars somewhere, up in the clouds?

Good, that’s where you were supposed to be.

Better question: What are you doing about that fantastic feeling dream!?

Sometimes what we are good at doing is all passion and no practicality.  This is where other people come in.

Try a Collaboration!  Why not work with someone else who will compliment your skill set?  If you are the artist, you need someone to be the business.  If you are the planner, you need someone to be the phone caller and network builder.  Why not work with someone who loves to do just this!?

I have worked with artists, LOTS of artists.  For the most part they are not planners, they are artists!  Sometimes flaky, sometimes temperamental, but amazing at their art! Just not at planning the event to showcase that art.

But what if they began working with someone who was amazing at planning art showcases but terrible at art?  Think how far they could go together!

This is what I am telling you to do: go find someone who complements your passion and begin building a foundation to your wildest imaginings!

This is Synergy at its heart!

Try It!  Who knows what amazing things you and your partner can do!?
